 My name is Julie Kusiek

I'm running for re-election as your Ward F
Edmonton Public School Board Trustee
It has been an honour to serve as your Trustee, including as Board Chair with Edmonton Public Schools. Together, we’ve worked to support student success and uphold the value of public education for our community. There is more to do and I'm ready for it!

On October 20th, vote to continue our work together for students and our community.

ABOUT JULIE

As a parent of four children who attend Edmonton Public Schools, active community member and current Trustee, Julie understands the importance of collaboration. Working alongside multiple stakeholders is essential for decisions that support student success, our schools, strong board governance, and our growing communities.

Experienced, focused leadership.

Julie believes that public education is a fundamental right for each and every child. It is also the foundation that our communities and Alberta's prosperity is built on. Public education is worth investing in!

Julie has the experience to hit the ground running. Being a Trustee can be challenging work. Even during difficult moments, I've remained a strong and steady leader who holds true to my oath to always do what I believe best to guide Edmonton Public Schools in our mandate to provide excellent public education to all students. I am not running as part of a special interest group, voting block or slate of candidates.

Julie knows our strategic plan, our policies, how our budget and capital planning cycles work, and how to consider multiple factors in decision-making. I've facilitated good governance practices and kept a focus on student success. You can also count on me come to the table with an open mind and to be a critical thinker in my work.

Julie builds connections. All of this has been informed by four years of visiting schools, meeting with students, teachers, parents and staff. It's meant developing relationships with key stakeholders, elected officials and decision makers.

Let's keep the momentum going.

I acknowledge that we live, learn, work and play at amiskwaciwâskahikan on Treaty 6 territory. Public education is a powerful tool for students, their families and the wider community to learn the truth of the past while committing to ongoing acts of reconciliation so that we may build a better future together. I acknowledge all the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries and my responsibilities as someone who shares this land "as long as the sun shines, grass grows and river flows."
